A Child's Paradise

Children love Union Acres. It is a natural paradise that invites a young mind to explore the surrounding beauty of Mother Nature and to experience "work" as play. Community members follow a 10 m.p.h. speed limit on our private roads to create a safe environment for outdoor play. Our spacious meadow is perfect for ball playing, swimming in the pool, and the kids' own version of community. We have a slide, swing, sandbox, and concrete sport court. A creek runs adjacent to the meadow for exploring, and there are many trails for hiking. In contrast to most cities and developed areas, Union Acres children are allowed the freedom to grow in an environment that offers them safety and an abundant supply of rich learning experiences along with the extended family companionship of other children.

Although some members have gardens on their own land, we have common land set aside for a community garden with enough space for some private use as well. Although still on a small scale at this time, community supported agriculture is an expanding interest.

We have set aside land for commercial development on the public road leading into Union Acres, yet the land is separate from the community. One possibility for this 2-acre site is to build a bed and breakfast inn.

We are also open to hosting various spiritual gatherings, family gatherings, and group events as interest and space permit.
